It's A Long One

It's a long weekend here in Canada (Victoria Day, informally considered as marking the beginning of the summer season in Canada). A lot of people go away for the weekend, but we are staying put.

I plan to be outside in the forest, in my yard gardening, relaxing and barbecuing! This post is a tad long as well, so that I can join in with all my favourite memes. I have my iPad for visiting and commenting, but I still can't figure out how "post from the Pad"!

Adult female Red-winged Blackbird
I really like the touches of orange in her feathers.

Juvenile male Red-winged Blackbird
I love seeing the beginnings of that adult red and yellow wing patch.

And of course, a critter post is not complete without a (peanut begging) squirrel.
Grey Squirrel (Buff)...yes I do name them all, and know them by their markings.

Beep (my granddaughter) is joining in on some memes this week.
She's thrilled when people drop in to Beep's Blog (Click here)

Karen, your birds are fantastic, those feathers shine, and superb colours, and of course the peanut loving fellow, leaves are a green that is coloured beyond a word I can find. I did visit Beep, and commented, her pets are so special. Cheers, Jean.

Thank you so much. Your birds and your squirrel put a big smile on my face - which extended further as I looked at the magic of unfurling leaves.

Brilliant photos Karen. I fell in love with the Red-winged Blackbird the first time I ever saw him several years ago, but have never seen such detailed photos of the female before. She is lovely! Loved Buff, he looks like a Buff :). Your maple leaf shot is stunning too. Have a great weekend!

Love the macro of the maple tree budding/coming to life again for another season!!!

And your squirrel...they're always a delight.

Wonderful birds and critter as always. Happy Victoria Day and Happy Summer. That sounds like my idea of how to spend a long weekend -- too many people going places...we always tried not to travel on long weekends -- and never even go anywhere on weekends nowadays if we can help it. (Mid-week is so much quieter!)

Oh and if you ever figure out how to blog from the pad" I hope you'll do a tutorial on it ;>)!

There's an app for that! Actually, there are several. And if you want to post a single picture, you can email it to an address that blogger assigned you for that purpose.
