Another Lifer

He flew in the yard,
spent less than a minute on the ground,
then off he went.
Swainson’s Thrush
(a lifer)

And this guy (along with countless others) is here for life I think!

If You Can't Stand The Heat, Don't Go Outside!

It gets very hot and humid, very quickly in my part of Canada this time of year.
This weeks temps are predicted to fluctuate between 92F and 102F.
There's not much activity in the yard when the heat rises to these levels.

A couple of locals still stop by once in while.

The flowers are blooming beautifully.

But the weeds have seen better days.

As for me, I stay inside, where the air conditioning
keeps the temperature bearable, at 70 degrees,
and take photos through the windows!

We Believe

Beep (my granddaughter), and I have been
crafting faerie cottages to put in the garden.

We use river rocks, shells, moss, sticks and twigs, on a birdhouse base.

 This is Beep's cottage.

 This is mine.

Our faerie garden under the cedar tree in my yard.
We think the faeries will love it, don't you?

A sweet little wannabe faerie, placing the stone bench in the garden.

Beep will be spending her summer vacation days from school with me,
so we will be making and adding more cottages during July and August.

Then, all we have to do, is wait for the faeries to arrive!

Two Finds

My two finds...the "brushstroke" app on iPad, and a dwarf dahlia.

DAHLIA 'Starsister Red and White'

I love Dahlias, but I don't have room for these large growing showy perennials in my garden. I found a great variety of dwarf Dahlias at the garden centre that can be planted in containers. In our climate, Dahlias have to be dug up and overwintered inside, but I can just bring the containers inside for the winter!

Dunking, Drinking And Debris

It's become very hot, very fast this week.
Daytime temperatures are reaching the high 80's.
Backyard critters are enjoying the "pool".
