Stormy Weather

1. A good storm invigorates me. Must be all those negative ions in the air.
2. Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy. They also help recovery from physical exhaustion and fatigue – achieved by increasing oxygen levels in the blood.
3. I like to listen to the rain pounding on a metal roof.
4. I like the smell of the air after a storm.
5. I am one of those people who actually likes to dance in the rain.

Come Sail Away

sharing with...

1. I love sailing. and also enjoy watching boats sail across open water.
2. Canoeing and kayaking both come in at a close second.
3. I got stuck inside my kayak last summer. My MS was flaring, and I went numb from the waist down. Hubbers had to pull me from the boat.
4. Kayaking is now off my list...or maybe I'll use a sit on top kayak.
5. I am not a fan of motor boats, jet boats, or sea-doos. They are noisy, and pollute the water.

Yard Birds - 2

A couple of firsts for me this week.

This little Carolina Wren made a very brief visit.
The pics aren't that good, it was near dusk and I was shooting through glass, but this is a new bird for me, so I was pretty excited to see it, AND get some photos!
I know these little guys are not rare to a lot of people, but they are rare for my area. They don't migrate, and I live slightly above the northern most tip of their range.

We have had very warm summer-like weather this autumn, and we if have a mild winter, I may see more of them!

A returning bird - First Of Season

Red-breasted Nuthatch
I love the vibrant red (orange) colouration at this time of year. It fades somewhat during the winter.

1. Sunsets over water are one on my favourite things.
2. I've always wanted to live close to the shore of an ocean, lake, river, or pond.
3. I love to listen to the waves crashing over rocks on the ocean shore, or lapping gently on a sandy lake beach
4.I enjoy the fresh invigorating scent of water.
5. No matter what the season or temperature, I always remove my footwear and wade in the shallows.

1. I have limited mobility, because of Multiple Sclerosis, and I can't get out and about much these days, so...
2. The critters that visit my yard, provide a lot of entertainment, and give me great joy.
3. We are spending a fortune on peanuts though, and Hubbers has suggested a monthly peanut budget.
4. My neighbours are not happy with my menagerie. Nor do they appreciate my "natural" environment, aka weedy yard, that attracts so many critters and bees...and cute little mice and yes, skunks at night.
5. Said neighbours have been seen rolling their eyes, and shaking their heads, while watching me hang out my window to get photos of my yard critters.

1. I am not a morning person, I have never seen the sun rise.
2. On several occasions, I have set the alarm to ring a half an hour before sunrise, so I can get photos.
3. I always turn the alarm off sometime during the night.
4. This year at our summer cottage, just before sunrise, I got up early (a trip to the loo).
5. I snapped one photo, and went back to bed.

S'mores

sharing with...

~ ~ ~ ~
edited : for those who asked,
S'mores are- roasted marshmallows (over a campfire), sandwiched between two graham crackers and a slab of chocolate. The hot roasted marshmallow melts the chocolate, making the whole thing a sweet gooey mess! A must have at every campfire. The name comes from, can I have some more - (S'more).
