A Day Out

Saturday was our first real spring like day. The temperature was 17C degrees.

We took a trip to the Pinery Provincial Park (Ontario, Canada).

Within the park is the Ausable River, where these photos were taken.
There was no snow in the woods, and the river was ice free.

Lake Huron also borders the park, where the photos below were taken.
Unlike the forest area, the lake was still frozen.
Those are not white cap waves, it's ice.
The brown areas are snow banks (on the frozen water) with sand on them.

There was about 4 feet of open water at the shore.
I took off my shoes and socks, rolled up my pant legs and waded in!
The water wasn't as cold as you'd think!

  21. Hi K -

Man I need photography lessons from you, I swear. Every pic is something else.

Your robins in the last pic look REAL as if they'd hop right out of the monitor onto my keyboard (and then consequently attacked by my cat, haha.) Ick, sorry I went there....anyway just saying hi and sending you a big hug.

  34. Great photos and amazing to see the lake frozen like that. 17C doesn't sound very warm to me!! My night time temp went down that far last night and I got a good night's sleep - but still no blankets needed to snuggle under!

  37. Ya, right....you're trying to convince me that the icy waters wasn't cold when you waded? You're ever so brave to have done that.

  39. Makes my toes hurt just to think of wading in cold water, but I am a terrible weather wimp. (My kids laugh at me, and you may too!) That's a beautiful beautiful park and again so glad you have spring.

  40. Great shots in both mosaics - thanks for sharing them.
Thanks for stopping by. I think the butterfly pattern and the old town blue were very popular patterns, as there seems to be a lot available on ebay and etsy.
    Enjoy your evening.
