Two Weeks Of Weather

I'm still down with a respiratory infection. The majority of my days are spent sleeping. I don't have energy to do much. I still manage to snap a photo or two of what is happening outside my window.

This post documents the weird weather we have experienced in my part of Canada, over the past two weeks.

Two weeks ago, our trees were still mainly green.
Male Cardinal

Female Cardinal
A sudden drop in temperature turned the leaves to beautiful golden hues.
Dark-eyed Junco
A further drop in temperature brought snow.
Goldfinch

Male Downy Woodpecker
It's mild again, and we are experiencing severe thunderstorms, and high winds.
Black Squirrel (Bandit)
This little guy seems as confused as the rest of us, but he poses nicely for peanuts!

I'm only posting once this week, and sharing with a variety of memes...

I hope to get around to visit the blogs participating in the above memes,
but please forgive me if I don't.

Cheers!

  41. Very nice images. I don't think I've ever seen a black squirrel. Our trees have displayed their fall colors, most of the leaves have fallen and winter is fast approaching.

  42. Wow!! what a fat squirrel!!! Dianne

  43. With the colder weather comes the chance to get gorgeous images like these, you nailed everyone of them. Great camera work.

  44. I hope you feel better.

The birds are beautiful - you capture the bird and background well.

  45. Your photos make me miss my old digs up north. Our feeder birds are mostly aggressive pigeons, doves and Monk Parakeets, aided by the feral Muscovy Ducks that can spill all the seed at once.

  46. Great shots of the birds and squirrel. I hope you get well soon.

  48. At first, you took such lovely photos of all of your nice birds! (and the squirrel too)

That sounded a bit weird about the weather you're having!

Thanks for your nice thougths and congratulations in my blog and at last I wish you to get well very soon!

  49. You may be feeling under the weather Karen but your photos are just wonderful. The cardinals especially althought its unfair to pick them out above the pecker and the junco. Hope you're feeling better soon by which time your pictures will be absolutely unbeatable.

    Hope you are well soon.

  56. I am glad you can still snap some photos while you're getting well yet. Take care. That woodpecker looks much the same as ours here in the tropics, but it seldom let us see them.

  57. Beautiful bird shots, Karen. The first one, the Cardinal, is my favourite!
Today we got the first snow 2013 at Germany as well.

  61. These respiratory infections can really take it out of you. Sure hope you feel better soon. Your birds are lovely and I especially liked the fall color background behind the Dark-eyed Junco, thought the bright green is pretty too. Your black squirrel is such a cutie! I put a large suet block outside yesterday and forgot to take it in last night. It had disappeared today, though they had been kind enough to leave behind the hanger ;) I think a hungry raccoon must have had a feast.

  62. You captured some of my favorite birds, the Cardinals which I enjoyed as a child, and the adorable woodpecker, which don't come to my feeder so I can only see them way up in a tree or hear the tapping. Get well soon!
