Awwww, look at that ear!
Poor Stoney Braveheart has been in a tussle! More than likely from a courtship fight.
I think the ear notch just adds to his charm!
The goldfinches are "yellowing up".
The snow is melting, and it's a mess under the feeders!
The grackles have arrived in hoards, but I don't mind.
They clean up a lot of that "under feeder" mess.

ReplyDeleteNeat set of shots, Karen. I noticed the ear right away. Love the feather colors you captured.
ReplyDeleteThe grackles around here are black and like dog food.
Beautiful photos. Poor Stoney Braveheart! I hope the fight was worth it. We haven't seen a grackle or blackbird here yet. Too much snow. Have a great weekend Karen.
ReplyDeleteDearest Karen;
ReplyDeleteWow, great photographs♡♡♡ I'm still amateur about birds, learned finch but had not learned grackle yet. They must have big appetite p;)

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Karen!!! Hope you have a wonderful day and weekend! I do LOVE your captures for the day -- of course, I always do! I agree, Stoney Bravehearts ear notch does add to his charm! One of my squirrel has a bare spot down his back, but it doesn't seem to slow him down any! Your birds are so beautiful and colorful!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and beautiful photos of signs of Spring ~ xoxo
ReplyDeleteartmusedog and carol
Happy birthday Karen.
ReplyDeleteEnjoying your shots as always.
Poor ear but still has cute face:)
Have a great weekend - I enjoyed reading your post and your photos are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteYou have all the right signs for spring.
ReplyDeleteHooray! Can't wait for Spring to arrive, and that Squirrel looks so cute.
ReplyDeleteI am very, very familiar with that 'under the feeder' mess.
ReplyDeleteStony Braveheart looks like he needs an earring to go with that pirate charm.
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI love the pose Stoney Braveheart is giving you. He is one fine looking fellow even with his tattered ear.
I love all your pictures but my favorite is the first.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy Sunday :)
Happy Birthday !!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the grackle picture Karen. The iridescent plumage reminds me of a Starling but the grackle is more handsome.
ReplyDeleteCute animal characters around your place. Stony reminds me of my buddy, Notch.
ReplyDeleteOh, poor Stoney.
ReplyDeleteOur stray kitty came home with the exact same thing a few weeks ago. :-(
Happy Birthday, Karen, and have a wonderful weekend!
Wonderful shots! Stoney Braveheart is adorable.
ReplyDeleteThat ear must be sore! Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteSaw one grackle ( I THINK ) this morning but as soon as I got closer to check he flew away.
ReplyDeleteLove your shots! :)
Your photos are so crisp! I love how the grackle's colours shine
ReplyDeleteThe colors on the grackle...wish I could wear the same and look as good.
ReplyDeletePoor Stoney...but, still cute as a button!
Gorgeous post!
ReplyDeleteeach of these photographs Karen, is a winner
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday :))) Wishing you much joy on your special day and in the years to come. Love your photos and my goodness, that ear does add character :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! That last shot is a gorgeous looking bird. Love the other shots too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Hon !!! *VBS*
ReplyDeleteGreat Pics as always, you sure caught some lovely color in the plumage! *S*
So much food spilled by the birds, squirrels hey? the parrots here are the same but there is always someone down on the ground to clean up *S*
As for Stoney, the little warrior seems to be saying "Bah, you should see the other guy!!" *LOL*
Great photos! I'm tired of the grackles that have been swarming my feeders. They spill even more seed than the squirrels!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. love the squirrel and goldfinch
ReplyDeleteThe grackle is a great shot - but the tattered ear is a winner too.
ReplyDeleteI miss the snow - but I do understand that you can have too much of a good thing.
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
...thanks for linking up at the Bird D'Pot this weekend. Hope your morning is filled with the songs of birds and relaxing and having an all 'round good day.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots!
ReplyDeletei know those grackles are such a pain but do you see all that color and purple!! beautiful!!
ReplyDeletePoor little squirrel!
ReplyDeletePoor Stoney. Kind of gives him more character than he already has. Great birdy shots too.
ReplyDeleteYour bird shots rival any major publications' output. I'm really in awe of that grackle. Wowweeee!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful critter shots Karen! Love your goldfinch since this is one bird that I rarely get to see :)
ReplyDeleteAwe, the poor squirrel, I've seen them like them, it's not too bad. And I do love the Grackles, superb.
ReplyDeletePoor Braveheart's ear ... He doesn't seem one bit perturbed. Gorgeous captures as always Karen.
ReplyDeleteStoney does look a little the worse for winter wear, but it does just add to his charm. I didn't think about grackles coming in handy for cleaning up the ground -- (we don't have them in Oregon, so never had them around when I fed birds). They are a lot prettier than the starlings we did have there (and starlings just chase away the songbirds so we hated them).
