On last week's Random 5 Friday, I posted that I was going to de-clutter my hard drive, starting with my thousands of photos. Among those thousands, I found this one!
It's not a particularly good photo technically, but the feeling it evokes in my heart, outweighs the merits of technique.
Beep, our granddaughter with a chocolate mint ice cream cone in October 2013.
We had spent the day at the beach, (it was an unusually warm October), and on the way home, we made the traditional stop for a "cone" at the local ice cream place, that has been there for over 60 years.
1. Sifting through my hard drive, is like finding that old shoe box full of photographs, that has been tucked away in the back of the closet. Captured snippets of the good times, waiting for rediscovery, to be enjoyed all over again.
2. Those images, moments frozen in time, are also a reminder of just how fast life flows.
3. It's hard to believe that "Miss Beep" is 9 years old already! It seems that not so many years ago, it was my daughter running back to the car with her ice cream cone (cookie dough), at this very same spot. And many, many
4. Life has come full circle.
5. And, grandchildren complete life's circle of love.

ReplyDeleteGrandchildren are such a wonderful part of our lives, and when you are first told that a baby is on its way, what joy, and now with the digital age, so many memories easily stored forever. That photo is surely a keeper. Cheers from Jean

ReplyDelete"Technically correct" doesn't always make the best picture. I think you captured a moment that resonates with many of us, being a child and enjoying simple pleasures. It's truly wonderful!

ReplyDeleteI have a little plague on my kitchen cupboard with that very saying, 'Grandchildren complete the circle of life.' They do indeed. It's really hard to delete even the not-so-great photos when they recall an ordinary moment made special by the remembering.

ReplyDeleteVisiting from R5F
I have many photos that are like that-technically not great, but I love the moment that was captured.
ReplyDeleteAlso neat to have three generations in one spot. We won't have that as we seem to move around for jobs quite a bit which is not our choice.
She is just adorable, Karen, and what a sweet shot this is. It makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

ReplyDeleteAn absolutely lovely Random 5. I love this. (Just received a lovely e-mail from my grown granddaughter with pictures of the great-grands... the circle keeps expanding!)
ReplyDeleteI'm cleaning out my photo files too ... without the incentive of cold weather to keep me indoors. The incentive though is necessity -- my computer back up is going to explode if I don't get it done.
and that is the beauty of pictures - they transport you to a foregone memory in an instant and also serve to remind you to enjoy the moment.
ReplyDeleteSweet memories, Karen - thanks for sharing! Except now I want ice cream, LOL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful photo! I know just what you mean -- my granddaughter is 8. How did that happen?! And one of my favorite photos of her is with an ice cream cone. Fun memories!

ice cream is connected with the backbone of so many memories for me. I remember getting ice cream to celebrate occasions when I was a girl and I remember taking my own children to get ice cream.
