your pets, your kids, whatever.
Really random this week!
1. I suffer from "dentophobia"...severely! I finally dragged myself to the dentist this morning. I'll have you know I was kicking and screaming all the way. Well, in my mind anyway. I managed to look calm, cool, and collected as I walked into the office. I came out with a great checkup, a new toothbrush, dental floss, and some toothpaste for sensitivity. I was a little disappointed they didn't let me dig through the toy treasure chest, After all, I was a very good girl.
2. I am really getting bored with "winter food". Soups, stews, and roasts are yummy, but I am longing for a barbecued chicken Caesar salad, or a burger, with a heap of potato salad. I guess I could always brush the foot of snow off the bbq, don my balaclava and brave the elements.
3. I went out shopping the other day. I got the best deals ever- two designer sweaters at 75% off! I love a bargain!
4. Groundhog Day (Feb. 2) is one of my favourite non-holiday days. I just can't wait for that little Albino rodent to come up with his Spring prognostication. We rely on Wiarton Willie for the news here in my part of Canada. In the summer we popped over to Wiarton from the cottage to visit Willie. He has his own little habitat in town, overlooking Colpoy's Bay.
Unfortunately he was sleeping deep in his burrow, so this is as good as it got.
Beep did enjoy posing with his statue though.
5. We might just have to take a trip up to the Wiarton Willie Festival in February. Could be a lot of fun, and help beat the winter blahs.

Feb 2 is also my mother's birthday. I always thought, while I lived up north, that it was an auspicious day.
ReplyDeleteHow people can be different, and each one so right. I am almost ready for autumn to begin,... down here, our days are cooler, strong winds, some snow in the far south, and yet February is usually the hottest month. Has summer gone, can winter be far away? Lovely pics, Beep, great place for your photo, and your sky, super shades. Greetings from Jean
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to food, I say try to eat what you want, when you want it. Yes, barbeques are not possible right now, but a stove-top, grill pan burger can be a compromise, that suffices, too :)

ReplyDeleteI am patiently awaiting Groundhog Day also. He better tell me that spring is near!!!
I have never visited Willie's place. I must do that some day!
ReplyDeleteI'm not fond of going to the dentist either but it MUST be done. ;))
i like your canadian rodent! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the pose of Beep!!! Cute!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd ya, I can understand taking a trip to help tide you over 'til Spring arrives!!
Gorgeous sky and I love the photo of Beep with the giant groundhog statue! Her guinea pig photo last week was just wonderful, I'm so glad she linked up to I Heart Macro… gosh she's growing up so fast!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pix, as always! Good for you at the dentist! I never trust Punxatawney Phil -- he lies!
ReplyDeleteFeb 2 is a good day to watch Bill Murray's Groundhog Day, and eat potato salad with a burger!
ReplyDeleteThat sunrise (or sunset) is really gorgeous! Going to the dentist is a brave act; I just went yesterday! Ugh.
ReplyDeletethe hues are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes I get hungry for Fall food, but it's just not pot roast weather here! I enjoyed your randomness... and did not know that you had your own groundhog up there ;>)
ReplyDeletegood thing you described dentophia, i was scratching my head saying, i have never heard of that!! hehe
ReplyDeletei have been loving my winter comfort foods, and i am not ready to give them up just yet!!
let's talk about bargins!!!!!!
How nice to hear another adult admit to fearing the dentist. One of ours was missing the top joint to a finger and I always wondered whether a patient had bitten down...
ReplyDeleteLove that sky.
I don't know a soul that actually looks forward to going to the dentist.
ReplyDeleteI looked for bargains at my thrift store today, but left with nothin'.
Thanks for joining in (early) at R5F this week Karen. xo
Your summer sunset sky is really beautiful Karen. We have the Mactacaddy groundhog at the provincial park near us. It doesn't matter anyway as we don't get spring weather until May. lol I don't like the dentist either and my appointment has been positioned until March now so that is kind of a relief. I'm always afraid they'll find 'something' that needs 'taken care of' every year. I hope you have a nice weekend. Pamela
ReplyDeleteLovely photo! Gives me a little warmth on this cold winter night. :-) I am still enjoying the cold weather. I don't like the hot of summer.
ReplyDeleteThe sky shot is just wonderful. And I am of the anything goes crowd. I had a yen for potato salad myself. I made BBQd pork ribs in the oven. Why not? I cover them with foil for a couple of hours then brush with sauce and broil to finish. They are great and you can just eat them right now. I give you permission, even in January.
ReplyDeleteLoved the photos Karen. Really lovely! Happy SkyWatch Friday!
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is around that time. Wonderful shots!
ReplyDeletePretty sky!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sky!
ReplyDeleteVisiting summer photos helps keep us warm in winter.
Happy Sky Watch Friday!

ReplyDeleteWonderful shots, Karen, especially the one with Beep as model.
Love the groundhog statue! Every town needs one!
ReplyDeleteI hate the dentist too. . . I too am craving Summer time food, I love tasty yet light food.
ReplyDeleteI like your blast of summer photo.
ReplyDeleteWhile you are sitting through the long cold of your winter, think of those who are sitting through the blasted heat of summer! I long for snow!!
ReplyDeleteCheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
PS: nice set of random thoughts!
Beautiful sky photo, Karen!
ReplyDeleteAt least you still get a free toothbrush and floss. Around here, adult get nothing, and only kids do.
Groundhog day is too early for spring to come. But it's fun to anticipate.
Lovely posts, made me smile *VBS*
ReplyDeleteGlad the dental issue worked out so well!! *S*
as i have gotten older - i really dislike dentist visits. they are no fun at all ... & i jump & dance when it is all over & don't look forward to it the next either. it is just plain evil.
ReplyDeletei wonder when it was started to have a groundhog decide the weather? seems very odd??! funny too. ( :
The ground hog in Canada is albino?
ReplyDeleteGood for you to make a trip to the dentist. Yea for a good check up. Going to the dentist or doctor are a part of life and I have accepted I might as well go and get it over with vs. waste precious energy on worry. It really isn't that bad.
I could use something grilled too. We grill all year round. Our biggest problem is the wind.
Hope your weekend is great!
Indeed great shots!
ReplyDeleteLove the cloud color in the first one.
The dentist is a form of torture for sure. I go every 6 months as I should, but I never look forward to it. I'm still ok with winter for now...I'm sure I'll start getting antsy soon.
ReplyDeleteI also hate going to the dentist, but it is necessary! Glad you went!
ReplyDeleteI am with you on going to the dentist...absolutely hate to.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. I love the colorful sky and great shot of the beautiful girl in front of the statue.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree ... in the beginning of winter I really enjoy the "winter food" but now I'm also craving BBQ chicken ... burgers on the grill ... tuna steaks on the grill ... salads ... oh my!
ReplyDeleteLOL
have a wonderful weekend

Gorgeous sky shot, it is a lovely scene! And Beep looks cute posing in front of the statue! I am looking forward to Spring and warmer weather.. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeletethat is so cool... the groundhog statue, I mean. Sweet little girl standing in front of it. Hope the groundhog gives the correct weather prediction this year. I am already tired of winter.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful sky. And I am also afraid of the dentist.
ReplyDeleteFun post, and gorgeous sky! Yes, currently made my way through all the winter soup/stew repertoire. And since hubby had a yucky took extraction yesterday...ICE CREAM was on the menu last night! (after the soup) Aloha
ReplyDeleteThat's an absolutely gorgeous sky image -- love it. I hope Wiarton Willie is good to you this year!
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous colors you've captured in your sky - amazing! Never fear, it will be broiling hot summer before you know it :)
