Another Canadian winter day. More snow, squalls, high winds, and temperatures dropping to minus 33 Fahrenheit with the wind-chill. This Blue Jay looks a bit disgruntled with it all, but at least he has a stash of peanuts (to the right).
I'm going to curl up by the fire with hot tea, my gardening books, and plan my vegetable garden for this year!

ReplyDeleteNow this is the kind of winter blues I would love!!! Lucky you. And such a beautiful image, as always.
ReplyDeleteSuper shot of the blue jay! Great idea to sit by the fire with a gardening book.
ReplyDeleteIt's a stunning photo of a blue jay; I prefer to think that it's content in its natural habitat, as I hope you were -tea at hand- in yours.
ReplyDeleteKaren
Great shot of the bluejay and the snow.

Such pretty feathers on top… weirdly warm here today… 43F and raining… but it will drop and then boy will the roads be slick!
ReplyDeleteThis is a stunning shot - it would make a lovely card! You have been having some really bad weather haven't you. We aren't having the snow and really cold temps but we are having gale force winds and lots of rain. It is never ending. Roll on the Spring. :))
ReplyDeleteLove the little birdie! Try to stay warm!
ReplyDeleteLucky is the blue jay who lives where peanuts are on the winter menu! Gardening catalogs are made to get people through cold spells! (And gray rainy ones, back when we lived in Oregon). Stay warm.
ReplyDeletePretty bluejay, lovely capture! Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness I will definitely not be moaning about our nippy temperatures tonight after reading about yours. Sweet photo of the Blue Jay :)
ReplyDeletePretty blue jay. I'm sure he is happy to have a few peanuts to eat. I'm curling up with a blanket and book to try and stay warm.
ReplyDeleteHave fun planning your garden!
Oh it is so very cold for every living thing....
ReplyDeletegorgeous, vibrant pic of the beaut bluejay against the white winter snow! I bet he is sure grateful for those life saving peanuts *S*
ReplyDeleteWinter blues is so right! Lovely Blue Jay shot. Think I`d rather pick weeds than shovel snow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet shot, Karen!
ReplyDeleteOur cold arrives tonight, with just abut the same wind chill as you are experiencing. Definitely time to stay inside.
Wonderful focus on the cute Blue Jay. We bought 50 lb of Black Sunflower seed which get eaten very fast but so far no Steller's Jays.
ReplyDeleteHe is beautiful with that blue on his head. Enjoying your bird shots!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful portrait! I'm glad this is the winter blues you were talking about. :) Brrrr...the poor birds...how brave and strong they are.
ReplyDelete...simply ADORABLE Karen
ReplyDeleteKaren, he is gorgeous and it looks as though you "staged" him with the snow-covered branches of evergreen. I love seeing the birds all fluffed to stay warm in the winter.
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
What a lovely shot. Keep warm!
ReplyDeleteOh he is a handsome fella...I love his coloring. 33 below is dangerously cold- stay warm!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your veggie patch! I got a raised bed for Christmas, now I'm thinking of my winter veggies.
ReplyDeleteLove the Blue Jay stuffing himself.
Planning a garden in this frigid winter weather is such a hopeful thing to do. I usually wait until the February doldrums hit. Your jay looks very happy to have found those peanuts.
ReplyDeleteOh he is beautiful, Karen!
