Coming And Going

Coming
Although Starlings live in this area year round,
we have hoards of them come to the feeders in the spring.

Brown-headed Cowbirds are arriving.

 Going
There are a few stragglers hanging around.
Most of these little birds have already flown further north to breed.

Junco

Red-breasted Nuthatch

And then of course, there are those that are ever present!

Black Squirrel

If there be bird seed- there be squirrels! LOL! Too cute. The starlings are so pretty, but they are such messy birds.

The coloring on that bird at top is beautiful. You're so fortunate to have such gorgeous birds visit you. I laughed at the bottom one -- he's always around, isn't he?

Oh, your birds are SO beautiful, Karen!! I have seen most of these here in Portland and I'm so glad you've identified yours because now I can do the same for mine!! The squirrels -- there are three of them now that are regulars, but no black ones! You are such an incredible photographer indeed!! Thanks as always for sharing and I hope you and your family have a lovely weekend!!

Hi Karen. I am rather taken by the pictures of the two "villains" the Starling and the Cowbird. Of course the Nuthatch and Junco are lovely too, and the third Mr Naughty too.

Fabulous post & photos.
The colors of the first 2 birds are just divine.
That little squirrel shot is so cute. - Black Squirrels look very different from the ones we have here.

These are wonderful, Karen.
I am angry at our starlings right now. :-)
They insist on eating all of the food in Miss Kitty's dish, and they can do it in no time flat!

Have a great weekend.

We've had the large flocks of starlings pass through and now just the odd one remains. The cowbirds are present as well. As for the squirrels ... they continue to get up to all sorts of antics all year round.
