I'm still down with a respiratory infection. The majority of my days are spent sleeping. I don't have energy to do much. I still manage to snap a photo or two of what is happening outside my window.
This post documents the weird weather we have experienced in my part of Canada, over the past two weeks.
Two weeks ago, our trees were still mainly green.
Male Cardinal |
Female Cardinal |
A sudden drop in temperature turned the leaves to beautiful golden hues.
Dark-eyed Junco |
A further drop in temperature brought snow.
Goldfinch |
Male Downy Woodpecker |
It's mild again, and we are experiencing severe thunderstorms, and high winds.
Black Squirrel (Bandit) |
This little guy seems as confused as the rest of us, but he poses nicely for peanuts!
I'm only posting once this week, and sharing with a variety of memes...
I hope to get around to visit the blogs participating in the above memes,
but please forgive me if I don't.
Cheers!

ReplyDeleteLook after yourself. We will be happy to see you when you are up to it, but your healing/nurturing needs to be your first (and second and third) priority.

ReplyDeleteGosh, I hate to hear you're still not well. What a beautiful collection of photos, though! I can't wait to see our goldfinches in the spring, as well as the junco. Such sweet little birds. The focus and color here are amazing. Such a change in the leaf color from two weeks ago.

ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how many wonderful different colors birds can come in. They are all so uniquely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove those beautiful birds. (The squirrel, not so much...) Soon, winter will settle in, and then that changeable weather pattern will be long gone.
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon!! Gorgeous shots as always!!
ReplyDeleteYou do so well with these nature shots in your yard!

ReplyDeletebeautiful birds. Agree with you about the weather changes. But it looks pretty in the images.
ReplyDeleteGoodness! These are gorgeous photos. I love that squirrel.
ReplyDeleteWhat magical shots! Hoping you feel a lot better and soon.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! I'm sorry to hear that you're still not feeling well. Take care!
ReplyDeleteWell, you know just how much I really like birds and bird photos...but I must admit, today...Bandit caught my eye. What a charmer.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to see so much of the world from your window. Take care and hopefully you will be up and about before too long.
ReplyDeleteVery nice images. I don't think I've ever seen a black squirrel. Our trees have displayed their fall colors, most of the leaves have fallen and winter is fast approaching.
ReplyDeleteWow!! what a fat squirrel!!! Dianne
ReplyDeleteWith the colder weather comes the chance to get gorgeous images like these, you nailed everyone of them. Great camera work.
ReplyDeleteSuperb captures all!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteThe birds are beautiful - you capture the bird and background well.
Your photos make me miss my old digs up north. Our feeder birds are mostly aggressive pigeons, doves and Monk Parakeets, aided by the feral Muscovy Ducks that can spill all the seed at once.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the birds and squirrel. I hope you get well soon.
ReplyDeleteA great series of photos of very beautiful birds. Hope you get better very soon.
ReplyDeleteAt first, you took such lovely photos of all of your nice birds! (and the squirrel too)
ReplyDeleteThat sounded a bit weird about the weather you're having!
Thanks for your nice thougths and congratulations in my blog and at last I wish you to get well very soon!
Hugs Pia
You may be feeling under the weather Karen but your photos are just wonderful. The cardinals especially althought its unfair to pick them out above the pecker and the junco. Hope you're feeling better soon by which time your pictures will be absolutely unbeatable.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have a wonderful window view♫♪ Love your shots. Feel better soon♥ http://lauriekazmierczak.com/sunscape/
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, well done!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly moved quickly from green into near winter!
ReplyDeletebeautiful bird shots. I cannot get over how big that squirrel is! I hope you are feeling better very soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the contrast between the green and golden leaves - great post.
ReplyDeleteOh Karen... I hope you feel better soon. I know how these things can take you down.. Glad you have some birdy company.... Michelle
ReplyDeleteI certainly envy you your crisp, clear shots of the birds and squirrels. They are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHope you are well soon.
I am glad you can still snap some photos while you're getting well yet. Take care. That woodpecker looks much the same as ours here in the tropics, but it seldom let us see them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bird shots, Karen. The first one, the Cardinal, is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteToday we got the first snow 2013 at Germany as well.
Regards and get well soon, Uwe.
The gold background is wonderful. Our weather is all over the place.
ReplyDeleteHope you get better soon!
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Awesome bird shots! And what a beautiful squirrel.
ReplyDeleteYour photography is fantastic.
Thanks for all your comments.
Hope you are feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteYour pics are AWESOME!!
These respiratory infections can really take it out of you. Sure hope you feel better soon. Your birds are lovely and I especially liked the fall color background behind the Dark-eyed Junco, thought the bright green is pretty too. Your black squirrel is such a cutie! I put a large suet block outside yesterday and forgot to take it in last night. It had disappeared today, though they had been kind enough to leave behind the hanger ;) I think a hungry raccoon must have had a feast.
ReplyDeleteYou captured some of my favorite birds, the Cardinals which I enjoyed as a child, and the adorable woodpecker, which don't come to my feeder so I can only see them way up in a tree or hear the tapping. Get well soon!
ReplyDeleteMay you feel strengthened a bit more each day Karen. I hope those little visitors are bringing you cheer even though you are feeling so unwell.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots Karen! They really document the changes in your weird weather. Hope you are feeling better today. xo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Karen, the weather sure is fickle isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping you get better real soon, take care!!
Today's, most beautiful bird watching!
ReplyDeleteNice find the birds to take well captures.
Beautiful, lovely birds, but oh my goodness that adorable squirrel, what a darling chap!!!
ReplyDeleteAdore all these characters. But the chirping goldfinch particularly wins a smile. And love the beautiful bokeh colours too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great series of shots. Love the way you can see the season change in the background.
ReplyDeleteHi I am sorry you are still unwell. hope you improve very soon. these shots are all wonderful. Lovely little birds.
