My two finds...the "brushstroke" app on iPad, and a dwarf dahlia.
DAHLIA 'Starsister Red and White'
I love Dahlias, but I don't have room for these large growing showy perennials in my garden. I found a great variety of dwarf Dahlias at the garden centre that can be planted in containers. In our climate, Dahlias have to be dug up and overwintered inside, but I can just bring the containers inside for the winter!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I love buying them at the Farmer's Market later in the summer, we have a great vendor that sells only them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful view of the dahlias. Love your picture and the watercolor version, too! Thanks for the tip about the dwarf version and the idea to bring them inside for winter! Dahlia's photograph so well - I think it's their star like structure. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteReally great effect. You almost had me fooled there for a moment :)

ReplyDeleteLove your painting, excellent.
ReplyDeleteOh I love that app! It made your beautiful dahlia even more so. My mother-in-law planted dahlias all along her driveway back in the 70's and 80's. She had quite a garden and won an award one year. I remember her digging them up every fall into an old galvanized tub and lugging it into the house and down the basement stairs! She was one strong little lady. ;) I have planted the annual variety before. They are great bloomers!
