One Plus One, Equals Cute

Black squirrels are quite rare.
Black Squirrels number only 1 in 10,000 squirrels found throughout North America.

I have more black squirrels in my yard than grey.

Black and grey squirrels are the same species and can interbreed...so

one black squirrel...

plus one grey squirrel...

equals this cutie!

  6. You got some neat photos of the squirrels. I feed my black and grey squirrels all winter I have a very unique feeder for them. I bought it a few years ago in Collingwood and have never seen anywhere else. Have look at it here.

  11. You have actually turned my "golly I really don't like critters" into "wow, they are really kinda cute - long as they're digging in someone ELSE'S backyard."

You see the power of your pixels?

  12. How very rare and very cool! It would be fun to find someone at a university that studies squirrels and send them this!

  13. It's my feeling that the blacks outnumber the greys in Toronto, Our local park used to be full of black squirrels until 2 years ago when a family of Cooper's Hawks took up residence and there are now no squirrels at all.

  14. Little rascals but so adorable! I think I may have seen one black squirrel driving locally but that's been over a year ago. When we went up to Canada I saw others in a park and was smitten with them. These photos show why :)

  16. I was thinking while scrolling down how healthy these squirrels looked. Now I know why, well fed on the deck railing.

  17. If black squirrels are rare why is backyard full of them and only the odd grey. But they are cute.

  18. I had no idea they were that rare. The first one I ever saw was this summer at my son's near DC.
Cute shots of your backyard friends!

  19. Gorgeous captures Karen - my favourite is the Grey Squirrel (perhaps because its markings stand out better). Thanks for sharing (and for commenting on my post)
