Macro Monday/My World Tuesday/Camera Critters
Hubber's found this little sweetie in the grass before he set about mowing the lawn. Not including tail length, this baby deer mouse is just over 1-1/2 inch long.
Newly out of the nest, he is not yet fearful of humans, so I picked him up and put him in a container, until the lawn had been mown.
When it was safe, I let him go, back near where he was found.

Good shots, Karen. And it is cute, but I hate mice, even deer mice. They invade my home and ruin food and clothing. Not a welcome visitor, at all!
ReplyDeleteso cute.... what a great shot you got!!
ReplyDeleteNice shots, Karen. We have little snakes in our pool about once a week. Hubby always scoops them out and let's them go in the alleyway. Except for a really big one (4-foot) in the flower bed a few weeks ago. And we live in the city.
ReplyDeleteThe only things I am really afraid of are mice and rats. As in cannot go near one, even if utterly dead.
ReplyDeleteBut I have never seen a deer mouse before and have to admit they look quite sweet and your photos, especially that first one, are wonderful!
so cute, glad you found him before the lawn was mowed
ReplyDeleteHiya Karen,
ReplyDeleteWhat good pictures, and it looks ever so sweet. Much nicer than a house mouse.
So sweet looking...as long as it stays outside. :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, that first shot is amazing!
ReplyDeleteIsn't he darling? Wonderful pics! Thank you for sharing! Cathy
ReplyDeleteHe's precious. Glad to know you rescued him from the lawnmower!
ReplyDeleteHow precious is this!?!!

Do stop by and visit if you have a little time in your day. Happy Monday.
Such a cute little mouse... enjoyed reading the post about him... glad he went back to the wild again...
ReplyDeletewhat a beaut shot of a marvellous little creature, you captured its innocent vulnerability and I am so pleased you were able to release it safely after the lawn was mown, good work and a great result all round! *VBS*
ReplyDeleteHow cute ! and what a nice shot ! fortunately my cats were not around !
ReplyDeleteSo very nice.
ReplyDeleteKaren that little mouse is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteNow it might be another case if I saw it scampering across the kitchen floor .. you would hear me screaming for sure girl ;-) but how silly is that? we are so much bigger yet the sight of a mouse scurrying sets my heart thumping. Yet son had hamsters when he was young and that didn't bother me .. I must be a bit mental?LOL .. in any case you got beautiful shots of this little sweetie !
Joy .. I haven't looked in the bag yet ! haha
so tiny! i have goosebumps while looking at this baby.:p terrific shots.
ReplyDeleteVery nice shots, I also find him so lovely!
ReplyDeleteHe's not comparable with our horrible dirty water rats... :(
Oh, he is so adorable and I'm so glad you able to protect him until the mowing was done! Such delightful photos, Karen! I love them! I know you're not supposed to love mice, but I live on the fifth floor of a seven story apartment building and we're not bothered by mice. Hope you have a great week -- and the little guy, too!!

Oh, so cute. And wonderful shots. Great work!
ReplyDeleteCute doesn’t even begin to describe this tiny creature. Babies are so adorable no matter what species in our world. Glad you took care that it didn’t get hurt. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat save!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteLovely series. The first image is perfection!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. I had never seen a baby mouse with this definition and the picture quality. Wonderful. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet! Great photos of this little mouse :) have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a sweet-looking little creature, but as soon as I read "deer mouse" I was reminded of a big scare in British Columbia in the 90s. I don't know what the status of the situation is now, but this is what was going on then, as reported in 2006:

Very cute! We don't have deer mice in Australia, they look sweet.
ReplyDeleteWow you get this close to the mouse! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie. We all have our place in this universe. God bless.
ReplyDeleteBabies always make us feel tender with their loveliness and potentials for future. I'm a bit sad some of them could be laboratory mouse though some of them also could be nuisance to humans. Thank you, Karen, for sharing this tiny adorable mouse.
ReplyDeleteJust goes to show that almost all babies are beyond cute!
ReplyDeleteso cute!
ReplyDeleteKaren, Thank you for posting such incredibly cute cute cute photos.
ReplyDeleteI was amazed with its size! Too small! The mouse is lovely but look fragile. Most delightful for the day! Have a wonderful day.
Stunning shots everyone! Love them.
ReplyDeletetoo cute! and gee, those are really good shots considering a mouse can really move fast. I hope it'll live well.
ReplyDeleteWhile I certainly do NOT want a mouse in the house... this little guy is absolutely adorable. (maybe this species does not come in the house at all) Your photos of him are marvelous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for adding yourself as a follower on my blog... I'm about to return the favor although I have to confess to being somewhat sporadic about popping in and commenting! (I get lost in other's blogs quite frequently and suddenly, 20 minutes or more have passed and I realize I've been drooling over lovely images and haven't left one comment!)
Mouse or not, he's still pretty cute--great photos. Mickie :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little thing! And your photos are brilliant!
ReplyDeleteCute one!
ReplyDeleteHe's cute, even if he's a mouse .-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky little critter to meet up with you before the mower passed by. - Margy
ReplyDeleteKaren, what a sweetie. The smallest mouse, and a marsupial at that, that I have ever seen was an Australian hopping mouse on our verandah at our mountain home.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and a sweet rescue story as well.
a sweet little one.
ReplyDeleteThat one is so cute in photograph, but I would be most certain very scary if I would see it in my yard:)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Karen! They're cute as can be but drive me nuts trying to keep them out of my basement.
ReplyDeleteOh my... that is one cute critter!
