Queen of the Swamp

Wild Yellow Iris
Iris pseudacorus

A wetland plant that is especially showy during its short blooming period. Not native to North America,  Iris pseudacorus was brought to Canada and the U.S. as an ornamental plant in the early 1900s. It is a fast-growing and fast-spreading invasive plant that can out compete other wetland plants.

Hi Karen, thank you for sharing these gorgeous yellow Iris with Today's Flowers. I saw a lot of these on our recent trip and your photo is a marvelous macro shot.

Would you be willing to share two or three of your favorite flower photos on our home page in our Guest Friend spot? If you are interested you can send them to me at luvinwildlife@hotmail.com, and if you could please put ‘TODAY’S FLOWERS’ in the subject line, this would prevent it from dropping into my spam folder. As friends send me their photos I add them to a list in the order received, and let them know when they will be shown.

Thank you for considering this and absolutely no pressure, we are just very grateful that you share your flowers with us whenever you can.

Wishing you a happy weekend,
Denise

Iris. I always call my mom the "Queen of the Iris" because she always grew them. They remind me of childhood.

Heisann!

Thank you, Karen, for your comments on my blog. And this Iris is so elegant, I had some moved from a ditch to our pond last summer, but now the pond is damaged by the community. If you open the label "Dammen", you will see what has happened!

Invasive but beautiful. Invasive plants are prevalent in Florida and often they are lovely plants that are very hard to dislike!.
