It was a beautiful day on Sunday, so we decided to go for a walk in Meadowlily. It's a couple of blocks from our house, and the area runs along the Upper Thames River (in London, Ontario, Canada - not England)
Spring splendour along the Thames!
This little Painted turtle (he's about 3 inches long), was basking in the sun.
He looks a little grumpy don't 'cha think?
A handsome Canada Goose couple on the river flats.
And...ta da! My very first Red-winged Blackbird capture!
Although it's not as close as I would have liked,
I was pretty excited to finally get a photo of one!

beautiful karn, i adore those red wings. mine seem very veyr big this year!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful images from your walk. I love turtles - your image is a very nice one. :) Red winged black birds are fairly common in the country in our neck of the woods. We don't see them here in the city. I guess they just don't like city life. :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a very nice place to take a walk. You certainly saw plenty of wonderful wildlife. I thought the turtle looked a bit grumpy too :))

Ah! I saw Upper Thames and thought England. Then I saw Canada Geese and a Red-winged Blackbird. Wonderful photographs! You give me a goal to shoot for! My turtle, this week, was about a foot long (I'm guessing) and not as sharply focused. I chose to describe his "grouchy" look as "wise".. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful set of captures Karen ... I love the way those geese have posed for the camera.
ReplyDeleteA lovely series from alongside the river. Delighted that you got such a good shot of the Red-winged Blackbird.

ReplyDeleteHow could you NOT fall in love with a place called MeadowLily!! I didn't realize you had your own Thames River and so I wondered for a second there -- thought I knew where you were. So that's my new thing to learn for the day ;>)
