Just Passing Through

Every spring, a few of my favourite birds spend a couple of days at the feeders before they go off to their nesting grounds.

  16. Ironically, Rose-breasted Grosbeak is the only species I have ever witnessed being taken by a Peregrine Falcon. It's a stunning sight but you can't help feeling just a little sorry for the prey species.

  18. I think the "rose" part of the name rather undersells the Rose-breasted Grosbeak. It is such an intense colour that Iwish I could think of a olour which more adequately describes it - if only for my own use.
