A Triumph

I used to be an artist. I used to paint. I made my living with my paintings. Then one day, I sat down to paint, my hands trembled, and my eyes played tricks on me.  There was something seriously wrong!  I went to my doctor. A few months later, after many tests..."they" gave me  the answer, you have Multiple Sclerosis.  My painting days were over. I took up photography, I could still make pictures. I was happy with that, but not content.

I haven't painted for 7 years since the diagnosis. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a canvas, and some paint. I retrieved my brushes that I had tucked away lovingly...all those years ago.

I sat down and I painted, I painted this. Not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination. Nothing like I used to do...but it's a start, and for someone that has intention tremors, and vision problems, (blurred and often double vision), it's not half bad.

 A small triumph.

I am taking time out from my photography blog to paint. I am also teaching my granddaughter to paint, she spends her summer school vacation days with me.

So for now, I will not be posting much on this blog.

Cheers,
Karen

  2. Karen, this is a huge milestone you have just run past, and your painting, beautiful, ethereal, mystic, haunting, and I love it. Keep on with the skills you have had hidden away for those years, and Beep, she will so be a wonderful pupil.

  9. Oh bless you, sweet Karen! Your painting is gorgeous! I can't paint a single thing - I truly cannot - you've done so beautifully here! I am SO glad you are painting again - my grandfather, Uncle, older sister and younger daughter are wonderful painters. (My grandfather on mom's side was a professional Lithographer for The Toledo Blade Newspaper for a living.)

Keep it up - and teaching your grandchild will be just what you both need!

If and when you get the chance head over to read about my good news I just posted yesterday. ♥♥♥ Hugs.

  10. Oh Karen I think it is absolutely beautiful. You are one of the strongest women I know and your "never giving up" attitude is what we out here cling to. We have followed your journey and see nothing will stop you. You inspire many you know. Beep is so lucky to have such a talented Grandma. I admire you so much. Sending hugs. B

I can't respond to every comment, but I will return the favour and visit your blog. I have turned off word verification, but it randomly shows up, that's a BLOGGER glitch.
