A Lovely Surprise

We have not seen as many Monarch butterflies as usual over the summer,
in our yard in SW Ontario. So I was very happy to see...

Lot's of Monarchs at the cottage, on the Bruce Peninsula!

(I added a bit of texture to this collage)

  2. They are truly beautiful. Is it just me, or does anyone else see their wings as perfect stained glass windows?

  13. Great photos and so nice to know the monarchs are somewhere in Ontario. I've only had one on our butterfly bush and that was a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday.

  14. Do they hibernate in your winter, or travel to a warmer area? In NZ, in the Bay of Plenty, they congregate under huge pine trees, and where we are, must stay somewhere sheltered, as this week I saw 2 out in the sunshine. Beautiful collection of photos.

  17. awwwwww, same page indeed!! Your images are just gorgeous, the colors are so vibrant!! I have not seen many butterflies this year either, I have read they are on the decline. I raised a butterfly in the house this year, a caterpillar I found on my dill. It was a black swallowtail, a fun experience beeb would enjoy. If you are interested, search my blog for butterflies are free, it will come up. Perhaps you saw it, but it was a super fun experience!!

  19. Beautiful!!! I haven't seen Monarch butterflies in our yard in years...more concerning to me than all the climate change hoopla. The lack of monarchs and bees is very much due to the human world and our use of pesticides...
